In September, we rolled out a new expectation for the school uniform and allowed all students to wear their choice of footwear. While we had the best of intentions with this decision, it has become increasingly clear that this change is not one that aligns to the mission and vision of DePaul.
We believe that the DePaul uniform teaches students to dress smartly and take pride in their appearance. Most importantly, returning to uniform shoes means students don’t have to worry about peer pressure when it comes to their clothes. When everyone is dressed the same, worrying about what you look like isn’t so important!
When we return to school following Christmas Break on Thursday, January 3rd, all students are expected to be in full uniform, including uniform shoes. If a student does not have uniform shoes, they will be considered out of uniform and receive a uniform infraction.
If you have any questions about this, or need information on where to buy your child’s shoes, please reach out to the front office.
We appreciate the overwhelming amount of feedback that was provided to us by families and thank you in advance for your acceptance and flexibility in this decision!
